My Story
I’m a Portland-based singer, writer, composer, pianist, and teacher. My music tells stories, synthesizes feelings, and explores our deep interdependence—with each other, with all living things, and with the non-organic, too. I am drawn to movement and time as both mediums and ways of being, ways of creating. My work often blends electronics, wind, extended techniques, improvisation, movement, conversation, found sounds, and folk-pop sensibilities to tell stories that ignite my creative spark.

I perform as a solo artist in Portland and with Big Mouth Society. My compositions have been performed by Big Mouth Society, Fear No Music, and New Music Mosaic. In the world premiere of Emily Lau’s The Common Opus, I was featured as a soloist—a performance praised by one critic as “a highlight.”

From 2021 to 2024, I was the manager and a chef at Cloud Pine Tea & Culture, a dim sum restaurant and art project created by composer and performance artist Emily Lau. Cloud Pine explored food, culture, and conversation through the lens of a restaurant. Emily and I are currently co-authoring a book about Cloud Pine—part memoir, part cultural travelogue—tracing our relationship as mentor and student, our travels in China, and our shared love of food. I’m a once-picky eater from Montana; Emily is an immigrant who grew up in Hong Kong. Our stories meet at the table.

I live with my partner, Reverie, who cares for our grape vines, blueberries, and coyote brush. She is the soft green whisper behind most of my songs these days. Together, we're writing an ecological post-apocalyptic fantasy novel about dragons and fallen cities.
I am always happy when making a pie, and always angry when making a cake.
I love to eat.
